About Stefan

Stefan’s musical career started over 20 years ago in Charlottesville, Virginia. He studied under Greg Thomas and Steve Layman, and at the age of 16, Stefan was invited to join the Charlottesville Municipal Band and the Charlottesville Brass Quintet. During his high school years, he played under conductors such as Greg Thomas, Steve Layman, David Holsinger, and Dr. Charles West. Stefan had many opportunities to travel with various ensembles. These opportunities included a trip to Boston to play for the Berklee High School Jazz Festival.

Stefan graduated from Radford University with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education, studying under Dr. Wayne Gallops, Dr. Michelle Devlin, and Dr. Dayl Burnett. Stefan was a section leader and performed in the top performance groups for the department, along with various chamber groups.

Stefan currently teaches elementary music and marching band. During his ten years of teaching, Stefan has had the pleasure of being the music teacher at a few schools in the Roanoke Valley, currently teaching at Oak Grove Elementary and assisting at Hidden Valley High School. Stefan also serves as the president of the Virginia Elementary Music Educator's Association (VEMEA). For the past five years, Stefan has been actively teaching private lessons for piano, ukulele, and brass.

Along with teaching, Stefan has performed with a variety of groups in Southwest Virginia, such as The Let's Dance Band, The Sway Katz Big Band, The Sauerkraut Band, Slides Rule, Valley Chamber Brass, Brass 5, Virginia's Blue Ridge Orchestra, The Old Pros Big Band, and Latin Clave. Stefan can also be seen performing at various local churches for concerts and events.
